位于武冈市区城北2.5公里的新东乡境内同保山上。山体呈圆锥形突兀，山上石林参差，四周环翠，古迹胜景甚多。有春秋越国上将军范蠡之女隐身的古仙院，元至正廿八年(公元1368年)武冈路总管柳不华屯军的元帅岩、明神宗监察御史曹一夔读书处。自然景观有伏流洄动，发声如铃、铎、钟、罄的九音岩。有泉涌如溪、深不可测、盘曲石笋莽林之间的没底江。石刻诗文有30多处，著名的有：唐元和七年(公元812年)四月柳宗元撰的《武冈铭》；王安石款以“半山”的摩崖“岩”题字，每字一尺见方，笔力遒劲，仍清晰可见。
