为豆科植物小叶锦鸡儿的果实。
【植物形态】
小叶锦鸡儿 多分枝矮灌木，高50～100厘米。树皮黄灰色，幼时黄白色；枝幼时被毛；长枝上的托叶宿存并硬化成针刺状，长约3～10毫米；双数羽状复叶，小叶5～10对，倒卵形或近椭圆形，长3～10毫米，宽1～8毫米，先端钝或浅凹，具细针尖头，幼时被丝质短柔毛，后仅被极疏短柔毛。花单生，长20～25毫米；花梗被丝质短柔毛，长1厘米，近中部有关节；花萼钟状，长9～12毫米，宽5～7毫米，密生短柔毛，基部偏斜，萼齿阔三角形，长约3毫米，边缘密生短柔毛；花冠黄色，旗瓣近圆形，龙骨瓣的耳不明显。荚果扁，线形，具急尖头，长4～5厘米，阔5～7毫米，无毛。花期6～7月。果期9月。 生于山坡、岸边草地、沙丘与干燥坡地。分布东北、华北和陕西。 本植物的全草(柠条)亦供药用，另详专条。

果实将成熟时采收，阴干。
【性味】
苦，寒。
【功用主治】
清热解毒，治咽喉肿痛。
【选方】
治咽喉肿痛:小叶锦鸡儿果、当药、蒲公英各等分。共研细末。每次五分，开水送服。
