    特大跨径桥梁主要形式之一。又称吊桥。一般认为,跨径600米以上应优先考虑悬索桥方案。 主要承重结构由缆索、桥塔和锚碇组成的桥梁。缆索通过两座桥塔顶两端延伸至桥台后锚固。桥面系和加劲梁通过吊杆悬挂在悬索上。具有合理的受力形式,主要承重构件——悬索受拉,无弯曲和疲劳而引起的应力折减,可采用高强钢丝制成。是所有桥梁体系中跨越能力最大的、跨径超过1000米的唯一桥式。英国亨伯桥主跨1410.8米,为当前世界上跨度最大的公路桥。西藏自治区达孜桥主跨415米,桥长541米,悬索一端锚于岩石中,仅设一座索塔,1984年建成,是中国最大的悬索桥。
