集装箱船 container ship 载运集装箱的运输船舶。集装箱船载运能力通常以装载6.096米/标准箱(TEU)数计算或用2×TEU即12.192米/标准箱(FEU)计算,也可以用船的载重吨位计算。集装箱船具有装卸作业快、停港时间短和货损小的特点。当陆域有适宜的装卸、运输与管理条件时,可实现快速的门到门的运输作业。1957年美国将一艘货船改装成世界第一艘专用的集装箱船,其装卸效率数倍提高。集装箱船已发展到每船可装4000余箱(TEU)。集装箱船外形狭长,单甲板,货舱舱口大,上层建筑布置在船尾或中后部,使甲板面集中,以便于集装箱堆放。货舱内有固定格架,便于集装箱稳定放置。甲板上通常放置2~4层箱,舱内有3~9层,码箱时重箱在下层,轻箱或空箱在上层,以求较好的船舶稳性。部分货舱用于装载集装箱,部分货舱用于装载普通件杂货的集装箱船称半集装箱船,也是一种适应性较好的多用途船。
