性质：系指在白色颜料应用系统中，颜料粒子太多时，因部分粒子接受不到入射光而起不到散射作用致使光散射效率(遮盖力)下降的现象，称为颜料粒子群集效应。当颜料体积浓度(PVC)必须很高时，若采用晶体(原级)粒径较小的颜料，由于单位体积或单位质量的颜料的粒子数太多，不可避免地会造成颜料粒子的群集，致使光散射效率(遮盖力)下降。就涂料而言，高PVC的建筑乳胶漆和罐听印刷油墨等所用的二氧化钛晶体粒子都是大粒径的，而低PVC的高光泽涂料所用的二氧化钛晶体粒子其粒径相对较小。
