这种弹药主要是利用震动声响传感器窃听战场目标信息。其弹体内装有一个震动声音传感器。它发射到目标区域的地面上时，就可以自动探测不同类型的声响，并将目标的声音信号转换成电信号。它对人的正常说话声的探测距离可达40米，对运动车辆的探测距离为几百米。美国最近研制成功一种传感侦察弹，其直径约为10毫米，里面装有超高频发射器和微电子仪器，用特制的枪具进行发射，且不发出响声。它可以窃听方圆数十米谈话，觉察各种动静，并将获得的情报迅速发出。
