性质: 是为了对付失去冷却水事故而采取的安全措施。为确保反应堆及其冷却剂系统能正常启动、运行和关闭,在堆芯发生事故或冷却剂系统出现故障时,反应堆应立即停闭。停堆后由备用应急冷却系统将活性区的剩余热量带出,此系统称为堆芯事故冷却系统。此系统中的高压贮水罐能自动向堆芯灌注加硼水,并有大流量的低压泵使堆芯处于水淹没状态,可进行长时间的冷却,将余热排出。
