一年内水电站生产的电能量。度量单位为千瓦小时（kW·h）。水电站年发电量随水库上游来水丰枯的变化和水库调节性能的高低，在年际存在差异。年发电量通常分为保证电量和季节性电量两个部分。保证电量一般等于水电站保证出力乘以一年的历时数8760；季节性电量是一年中水电站出力超过保证出力部分随时间的积分值，随来水的丰枯而变化。水电站多年平均年发电量是水电站在相当长的年列中所有各年年发电量的算术平均值，设计中应根据较长的水文系列（一般为30年以上），通过径流调节计算加以确定，在水电站运行后应根据实际来水情况进行复核。它是阐明水电站动能效益和制订电力生产计划时的一项重要指标。
