| 中央电视台 中华人民共和国国家电视台 。英文简称 CCTV 。创建于1958年5月1日，初名北京电视台。同年9月2日，由试播转为正式播出，这一天被确定为中央电视台的诞生日 。1978 年5月1日改用现名 。 该台的传 输中心通过微波线路和通信卫星，把节目信号送到国内各省、自治区、 直辖市和世界许多地方，并接收国内外送来的节目信号。1995年中央电视台的观众逾8亿。中央电视台办有8套彩色电视节目。除在中国大陆播映外，还通过交换、买卖、合拍、提供服务等多种形式和卫星传送等渠道，不断扩大电视节目的对外交流，已同80个国家的120个电视机构建立了业务联系。并制作一定数 量的节目，翻译成英、法、西班牙语 、中国 普 通话和广东话五种版本，寄送许多国家和地区。出版《中国电视报》、《电视连环画报》和《中外电视》等报刊。
