打折机票是在机票经济舱全价的基础上执行优惠价格的折扣，从9.5折开始至4.0折，4.0折以下属于特价票。折扣后价格是按四折五入后省掉个位数。
机票的折扣是由各地航空公司的分支机构来控制的。航空公司会在民航系统上按市场情况来调节不同经济舱位的价格，然后再根据各地机票代理人的销售情况给予适当的优惠折扣(一般在5-20个百分点）。因为大部分的出港航班的折扣控制权都在本地，所以在本地够票的价格都会优惠一些。
