电子产品应保证使用者人身安全和产品本身的安全。从19世纪末起人们就已开始注意电子产品安全性的研究。安全和不安全不是绝对的，而是与公认标准相比较而言的。安全事故的统计方法有三种：①以频次率或严重率为依据，提出供比较的基本标准；②以费用为依据计算损失率；③采用质量管理统计技术。安全性分析包括初步分析、详细分析、工作安全性分析和定量安全性分析。安全评价的范围主要在技术和管理两个方面。系统安全工程是系统工程的一个组成部分。它要求运用科学原理、标准和技术来鉴定、消除或控制系统的各种不安全因素。安全防护的基本途径是：①查找不安全因素及其产生的原因，设计出安全的设备；②采用防护装置和安全措施；③加强安全管理。电子产品安全性的趋势，是强调在产品设计阶段就消除潜在的危险，不断改变产品设计的传统观念，加强安全管理、职业保健和环境管理等。
