炉城东关顺折多河而下约20公里的头道水村，有一自然奇景名“小天都”。据《卫藏通志》中描写道：高崖夹峙，一水中流，居民皆住山麓，水声砰訇如雷霆，岩山有瀑布，夭娇喷薄，高数十丈，下垂如帛，真一大观，一奇景也。 清代四川省城至打箭炉的驿站有十余个，出康定城顺折多河而下20公里的头道水村是这条古道的驿站之一，为行为留宿之地。乾隆五十七年（1791年），奉旨由成都到打箭炉、察木多督办征计廓尔喀的清军军需事宜的吏部尚书、摄四川总督孙士毅，于返川途中留宿头道水村，有感于神奇的山川景色，为悬流千尺的崖山瀑布题书“小天都”三字，刻于瀑布东侧峭壁之上。此山野深谷之悬流飞瀑因之得名“小天都”，成为沪城郊区一大自然景观吸引众多文人墨客留连忘返，留下无数诗文词赋。崖壁题字“小天都”斗方楷书石刻大字，笔力浑厚端庄，题款为“乾隆五十七年促冬文华殿大学士孙士毅书”。
