龙头渚位于无锡马山西南。山脉如一条游龙,直伸入湖中。其山脉形状有龙头、龙舌、龙睛、龙颈、龙背、龙爪、龙形,形态逼真。
民间流传着一个“斩龙头”的故事。古代这里有条青龙,深夜潜入湖内,惊动了鹿山的一只神鹿。鹿龙相遇,斗得民不安宁。于是鹿山派出18勇士,斩断龙头,用铜钉钉死在这里,后人便称此地叫“龙头渚”。
