用压缩气体作为动力的工具,又称风动工具。气动工具主要分为冲击式、旋转式和兼具冲击和旋转作用等型式。①冲击式气动工具:由压缩气体驱动活塞往复运动,产生高速锤击作用,完成所需动作。如锤击钎杆、拆除建筑物、破碎路面用的风镐,铆接金属结构用的铆钉枪,清除铸锻件毛刺用的风铲和除锈或捣固砂型用的风锤等。②旋转式气动工具:由压缩气体驱动叶片式气动马达带动工具旋转,完成所需动作。如风动磨头和抛光机,钻孔和扩孔用的高速风钻,拧螺母用的风动搬手和风动旋凿等。③冲击、旋转式气动工具:同时具有冲击和旋转两种动作。如采矿和掘进用的凿岩机,其缸体内的锤头向前移动时冲击钎杆尾端使钎头凿入岩石,回行时带动钎杆旋转一个角度,再开始第二次凿岩动作。④其他风动工具:如气动夹具,动作迅速,夹紧可靠,适用于自动生产线。
