    量子力学的基本假设之一  ,可表述为如果波函数Φ1Φ2、…Φn是描写微观粒子体系的可能状态,则它们的线性叠加c1Φ1c2Φ2+…cnΦn也是粒子体系的一个可能的状态,式中c1c2、…cn是常数。电子双孔干涉实验(见波粒二象性)是态叠加原理的一个特例,电子通过双孔的态是Φ1Φ2,电子在屏上的概率分布在|  Φ1Φ2  2=|Φ12+|Φ22Φ1*Φ2Φ1Φ2*Φ*Φ的共轭函数,式中后两项体现双孔干涉的效果。态叠加原理表明微观粒子体系是线性系统,它所遵从的运动方程是线性方程。态叠加原理还是表象理论的基础。
