港口客运站水运部门组织和办理旅客运输业务的基层单位。客运站设在港区范围内，由港务部门直接管辖。主要功能是:出售船票，组织旅客候船和确保旅客安全上下船，办理行李包裹运输，以及接受客船委托的有关临时业务等。港口客运站的主要设施包括:①客运业务设施。主要有售票厅、行李房、广播室、问讯处、调度室、小件寄存处、装卸工具等;同时还设置客船班期表、航线里程图、票价和行包运价表、其他交通工具运行时刻表、禁运限运物品宣传画等。②旅客服务设施。指旅客候船、上下船的服务设施，包括候船室、卫生间，并配备相应的设备，如座椅、挂钟、公用电话、留言牌、果皮箱、阅报栏等。有条件的客运站还可以提供旅客食宿，开展“一条龙”服务。
