In the Yuan Dynasty, there were about 173 sea salt fields, 5 pond salt production areas, 12 well salt fields administrated by Tea and Salt Transportation Department, 95 salt wells controlled by the government (excluding private salt wells in Qiongzhou, Shaoxifu, etc.
