性质:表示悬浮液形成界面沉降时界面高度与沉降时间关系的曲线。一般是将悬浮液搅匀后静置于量筒内作重力沉降实验测得。沉降过程如下:(1)起始状态,悬浮液浓度是均匀的;(2)短时间后,最粗粒子沉降到底部形成E层,中、细粒子开始沉积形成D层,表面部分出现澄清液A层,A层以下是与初始浓度大致相同的悬浮液B层,B,D层之间存在过滤层C层,A-B层界面以接近于B层内粒子的沉降速度作等速沉降;(3),(4)经过一段时间后,A,D层变厚;(5)再过一段时间后,B,C层消失,界面沉降速度开始急剧减小,这点称为临界点或压缩点;D层由于粒子自重引起压缩脱水,其高度缓慢减小,逐渐接近于某一定值如图示;这阶段称为减速沉降区。表示以上沉降过程的沉降曲线如图所示。如粒子粒度分布较均匀,沉降过程不出现C,E层。
