行星磁层 planet,magnetosphere of 太阳风与行星磁场互相作用而形成的特殊区域,其中充满着等离子体物质。其形状与彗星相似:磁层顶受太阳风压缩形成弓形激波阵面;磁层尾却可沿着背太阳面延伸得很长。磁层内有个特殊的界面,面两侧的磁力线方向相反,该面称中性面。九大行星中,金星、火星没有磁层,冥王星情况不明,其他行星都有磁层。水星的磁场很弱,又最近太阳,所以磁层顶被压缩得很厉害 ;木星磁层比地球磁层大100倍,并可分3部分:内区(离木星14万千米以内)大致是偶极场;中介区(离木星14~42万千米)较稀松,磁力线弯弯曲曲,带电粒子被约束在很薄的片形场内;外区(离木星42~63万千米)则是合成场,而其磁尾甚至可扫及土星区域。土星的磁层更为复杂,在等离子体外还有一个庞大的氢环,整个磁层形如一条大鲸:头部磁顶圆钝,磁尾粗壮;在外太阳和行星的大小比较行星区域,太阳风已很弱,所以天王星、海王星的磁层顶都可高达几十万千米,而且磁层内除常见的氢离子外,还有较多的氦和氮离子。 |
