A depositional formation distinctly different from the original Lower Carboniferous was found inthe east of the Baoshan Block and is termed the Zhangjiatian Formation.
在区域地质调查过程中在保山地块的东部发现了一套与原下石炭统明显不同的沉积组合,定为下石炭统张家田组,岩石以出现较多碎屑岩、凝灰岩及夹两层蚀变玄武岩为重要特征,产丰富的牙形石化石,可分为三个生物带,时代为早石炭世岩关期一大塘早期。

太保山位于保山城西，沿保由路西行20分钟即可到达，是一个占地1500多亩的森林公园，森林覆盖面积达90%，长满了松、杉、栗等多种参天大树，环境优美，空气清新。 公园大门挂有一副对联云：“临早登高岫，随曲径通幽，听野鸟争喧，千顷松涛响天外；倚晚迎皓月，傍花枝弄影，看星光垂地，万家灯火舞人间”。这幅对联较好地描写了登临太保山所看到的景致。 沿着700余级台阶登上山顶，保山城及保山坝尽收眼底，令人心旷神怡。山顶是一个50多亩的大平场，建有西南第二大的武侯祠，纪念三国时的诸葛亮。旁边还有一个小型的动物园，可以顺路看看。 门票：免费
