传热面上的垢层对传热过程产生的附加热阻。在换热器运行过程中,冷热流体所含的一些盐类(如 CaCO3、MgCO3、CaSO4、MgSO4)或其他杂质,会在传热面上析出,形成逐渐增厚的垢层。若冷热流体对壁面有腐蚀作用,腐蚀产物也是产生垢层热阻的因素。流体的性质、清洁程度、流速、温度以及传热面的材质和光滑程度,对垢层的形成都有一定影响。
垢层的热导率很小,垢层热阻是导致传热系数下降的重要原因。为保证正常操作,换热器必须定期清洗。此外,还可以采取一些防止或延缓垢层形成的措施,如在冷却水中加入阻垢剂和水质稳定剂。
由于垢层的厚度及其热导率难以测定,垢层热阻只能根据经验确定。正确估计垢层的影响,是换热器设计中的一个重要问题。
