With a view to the commonly observed severe corrosion of aluminum alloy conductive tube in high voltage isolator and its potential damage to the normal operation of the isolator, the causes leading to the corrosion and failure of the aluminum alloy conductive tubes were investigated by means of energy dispersive spectroscopy, metallography, and electron probe microscopy.

The failure reason of the aluminum alloy tube was investigated by macroscopic and microcosmic appearance observement,quality of material test,the stress analysis.

Based on the analyses of the marketable reguirement,it is important that development of producing and deepen working aluminium alloy tube to advensed the economy of Shanxi.

In regard to eddy-current test for aluminium alloy tube, it is the established threshold value that will determine the ploducts acceptable or unacceptable.
