   竞技体操项目。跳马运动是由用木马训练骑术演变而来。1896年男子跳马列入国际比赛项目  。现代跳马器械长160厘米,男子为纵马,比赛时要做用手臂支撑一下的跳跃动作。技术发展过程20世纪50年代为后摆水平腾越;60年代为手翻腾越和山下跳;70年代“原跳”问世后,跳马技术进入了手翻接空翻时期。以后又出现了复合多轴空翻。到80年代又向多周转体发展。80年代末至90年代初,手翻接空翻2周的动作增多,同时又出现了踺子上板后手翻接空翻动作。在跳马技术发展过程中,日本运动员原,中国运动员楼云等都作出了卓越的贡献。女子跳马为横马,其动作有各种手翻,手翻接空翻,各种第一或第二腾空的转体,踺子上板后手翻接空翻转体等动作。技术发展快,难度大。
