使驱动汽轮机作功后排出的蒸汽变成凝结水的热交换设备。又称冷凝器。蒸汽在汽轮机内完成一个膨胀过程后﹐在凝结过程中﹐排汽体积急剧缩小﹐原来被蒸汽充满的空间形成了高度真空。凝结水则通过凝结水泵经给水加热器﹑给水泵等输送进锅炉﹐从而保证整个热力循环的连续进行。为防止凝结水中含氧量增加而引起管道腐蚀﹐现代大容量汽轮机的凝汽器内还设有真空除氧器。
凝汽器分为表面式和混合式(用于轻式冷却塔)两种。混合式凝汽器内排汽直接与冷却水接触﹐会造成水质污染﹐因而电厂汽轮机很少使用。表面式凝汽器内排汽不直接与水或其它冷却介质接触﹐蒸汽在冷却器壁面上凝结成水。表面式凝汽器可采用水冷和空冷。用水冷的表面式凝汽器为保持高度真空和良好传热效果﹐常配有抽气设备﹐不断将漏入凝汽器的不凝结气体和空气抽出。
