A few commonly used materials of canal anti-seepage lining engineering at seasonal freezing soil area were introduced,the technical demands of a variety of materials were put forward,and it was showed that composite materials anti-seepage lining structure is the best one at seasonal freezing soil area.

Pointing at geological conditions along the canal, through water lining combining the concrete unfashion bricks with the dry laid stones is used for canal rebuilding works, so that the purposes of frost heaving control, canal regulation and see.

The flexible liner system along canal slopes was discussed in detail with respect to the properties of the related expansive soil as well as the design methods.
