西湖天地位于西湖南岸的涌金池畔，紧邻柳浪闻莺，占地3万平方米，而目前仅为第一期工程，名曰：园林篇；当整个项目结束后，面积将达5万平方米。第一期的十多幢建筑都是杭州有来历的浙派民居，设计师巧妙地将现代元素与传统建筑完美结合，既保留了粉墙黛瓦、雕梁画栋，又采用大面积的落地玻璃窗来传递窗外美景。

老建筑的内部的商户虽不多，却经过了千挑万选而最终确定。云集了世界知名的咖啡馆、会所、餐厅、娱乐场所和商铺。值得推荐的商户有：别有天茶酒年代、古美绣、福林堂，等等。
