By using an analytical solution for calculating the stress changes and displacements around an excavated rectangular diaphragm wall panel trench,the principal stress changes around trenches of various aspect ratios were analyzed and a semi-ellipsoidal sliding wedge was derived.

To counter the phenomenon of local siltation appeared at the section between #255～ #260 light buoys along the downstream north channel during flood period of 1998,anslyses are carried out to the mapping data of different seasons of several years.
