Based on the monitoring results for the water quality in 1997 in different distrcts of the river, an assessment of the water pollution status of Xizhi River Basin was carried out, and some countermeasures for the enviromental protection and the construction of the ecological system in this area were put forward.

| 江都排灌站 中国最大的排灌泵站。位于江苏省江都市境内，京杭运河、新通扬运河和淮河入江尾闾芒稻河的交汇处。包括4座泵站，总装机容量49800千瓦，总抽水量为 473米3／秒。其作用是：抽长江水灌溉稻田20.1万公顷，并可为淮北部分地区提供抗旱用水；可抽排江都、高邮等五县市的涝水；为京杭运河提供航运用水，为运河沿线城镇提供生活及工业用水；在满足灌溉和航运用水后，余水可利用江都三站可逆式机组倒转发电，发电能力约3000千瓦。江都排灌站还是南水北调工程规划东线工程的一级泵站。排灌站于1961年开工兴建 ，1977年全部竣工。 |
