在铁路车站范围内，除正线以外的其他铁路线路的统称。主要包括:①到达线,供办理列车到达作业使用的线路；②出发线，供办理列车发车作业使用的线路；③到发线，兼有到达线和出发线的功能的线路；④调车线，又称编组线，供办理货物列车解体、集结和编组作业使用的线路；⑤调发线，又称编发线，兼有编组线和出发线的功能的线路；⑥站修线，供在站修理的货车停留用的线路，一般设在编组场的一侧；⑦加冰线，供装运易腐货物的冰冷藏车停留加冰用的线路，一般设在通过车场的外侧或编组场的一侧；⑧货物线，供办理装、卸作业用的线路；⑨整装线，供装载不良或待修货车整理装载状态或倒装货物用的线路，一般设在编组场尾部一侧；⑩机走线，供机车出入机务段走行用的线路；机待线，供换挂的机车暂时停留用的线路，一般设在到发线附近；安全线，为防止两条会合或交叉的主要进路上发生行车冲突或行车与调车作业冲突,用以隔开进路的线路,一般设在到发线的两端（图1）,也有设在区间的安全线；避难线，在陡坡地段车站，为防止在陡长下坡道上失去控制的列车颠覆，或与站内停留车冲撞，或与前方区间列车冲撞而设置的线路，一般设在下坡方向的出站端或进站端（图2）;牵出线，设在铁路的车场或货场一端，供调车机车牵引车列进行解体、编组等调车作业的线路。
