      日本最大的高电压实验基地,属日本电力中央研究所。位于盐谷郡盐原町,1961年4月建。实验场海拔高度470米,具有典型的日本靠太平洋沿岸的气候条件。其主要设备为10000kV冲击电压发生器(见图),其能量为750kJ,能产生标准雷电波及2500kV的操作冲击波,可进行6米左右的绝缘子串及空气间隙的绝缘强度试验;其充电电容器的额定电压为100kV,容量为1.5μF,共使用100个电容器,总重量46吨,是世界上最大的冲击电压发生器。其他设备有直流±500kV、1A(连续)的直流高压发生器,3台350kV单相变压器串级联接组成的高压交流电压发生器等。研究内容包括超高压直流输电和交流输电,涉及绝缘子及其积雪时的特性、空气间隙在操作冲击、雷电冲击下的特性等超高压输电的各种有关问题。
