By using lubrication equation, elastic equilibrium equation and narrow gap flow theory, the pressure distribution, thickness of liquid film and friction force on the inner surface of the reciprocating rectangular sealing ring, which play an important role on sealing performance, are studied.

The results indicate that the contact pressure of sealing face of the rectangular seals increases with the increase of initial compressibility or liquid pressure.
