靠偏置叶轮在泵腔内回转运动使工作室容积周期性变化以实现抽气的真空泵。它的工作室由旋转液环和叶轮构成，其结构和工作原理与液环压缩机相似。工作时吸气口接被抽真空容器。泵腔内如充的是水则称为水环真空泵。水环真空泵结构简单,制造容易,工作可靠,使用方便，耐久性强，可抽除腐蚀性、含尘气体和气水混合物。被抽气体温度以-20～40℃为宜。循环水不应含有杂质。水环真空泵的抽气速率范围为0.25～500米3／小时；极限压力：单极泵为8×103～2×103帕,双级泵为2×103～1×102帕。水环真空泵主要用于真空蒸馏、真空干燥和水泵引水等方面。
