古蔡八景之八 云护蓍台
蓍台在上蔡城东15公里的蔡岗之上。传说太昊 伏羲氏画卦于此，始创文字。台南有朱雀沟，台北有玄武沟，台西有白虎沟，台东有青龙沟。其前一水，名蔡水，旧有白龟浮游其中。台旁有耆草圃，圃中筑一台，台上各作一亭，一曰先天八卦亭，一曰后天八卦亭。史书载：“上有白云覆元，下有灵龟守者焉。”故名云护蓍台。旁有白龟祠。蓍台在宋明时期为天中胜迹。而今，后天八卦亭犹在，每年农历三月十五为“白龟祠”会，会期客商云集，盛况空前。
