怒江峡谷壁陡崖悬,壑深万丈,滔滔江水如野马奔腾于峡谷之中。传说中,一对分别居住于怒江两岸的傈僳族恋人,在无法相会的苦恼之中,受到彩虹的启发,拉起了怒江上的第一条溜索。从此,这种便捷的交通工具便被两岸的人们广泛运用。 怒江上的溜索有两种--平溜和陡溜。平溜的溜索两头一样高,平越大江,来往都可过,但溜到江心后得双臂用劲,攀到对岸。陡溜有一定的倾斜度,一头高,一头低,自然滑向对岸,十分轻快。陡溜一般都是两根,倾斜方向相反,来回都很省力。为了安全,溜的构造除溜索本身外,尚有一块硬木或竹子做成的溜板和一根栓在腰间的麻绳。 过溜索是需要勇气的,当你把生命系在一根并不太粗的绳索之上,当你越过看一眼都头晕目眩的峡谷,当你听到溜索下那震耳欲聋的江水咆哮之声时,心中会不由生出几分怯意。当你看到那些男女老少在江面上自如地溜来飞去,特别是那些大妈带着孩子,背着山羊肥猪一起“从天而降”时,不能不为他们的勇气所折服。藤蔑做的溜索很容易磨损,所以过一段时间(短则二三个月,长不超过一年)就得更换一次。换溜时,两岸各选一个力气大的人,先用钓鱼线的一端拴一石子两岸对丢,待两个石子在江心钩边在一起时,便慢慢拉过对岸。而后把鱼线换成较粗的麻绳,这时再将溜索一端固定于一岸的溜桩或大树上,另一端则系在粗麻绳上拉过对岸,固定于彼岸的树上或溜桩上,并用木棍逐段绞紧,换溜就完成了。 今天,横架在怒江上的桥越来越多,但溜索仍然没有退出历史舞台。蔑索已变成了钢缆,溜板也被滑轮所取代,溜索越来越安全。有的溜索已成为当地人进行体育锻炼和娱乐的工具。有的举家大小一同过溜,其乐无穷。远道而来的游人,也可亲身感受一下这凌空飞溜的惊险。
