天然气液化（liquefactionofnaturalgas）
是指把气态天然气变为液态天然气的过程。天然气的组成随气田不同而异，其主要成分为甲烷、氮及C2～C5饱和烷烃，液态天然气的物理性质随天然气的不同而有所变化，它在液化前需要预处理，先脱除混合气中所含的硫化氢、二氧化碳及水分等杂质，然后用逐级冷冻循环或用带膨胀机的冷冻循环，使天然气降温到冷凝温度而液化。
