补充资料：“八一四”空战
“八一四”空战（1937.8.14）
中国空军抗击日军飞机空袭杭州笕桥的作战。又称“笕桥空战”。
1937年“七七”卢沟桥抗战爆发后，日军发动全面侵华战争。8月13日，日军以重兵向上海发动进攻（见淞沪会战）。国民政府军事委员会急令驻河南周家口的空军第4驱逐机大队调杭州，加强淞沪地区的防空力量。14日，第4大队调防杭州笕桥机场刚着陆，未及加油，即遭日机空袭。大队长高志航在飞机余油不多、气象条件恶劣的情况下，毅然率领所属3个中队27架飞机紧急升空抗击。
高志航驾驶“霍克”ⅲ型驱逐机起飞后，先爬高至云上，未见敌机，即下降至云下，发现96式飞机1架，迅速逼近目标，连续两次射击，首开记录，日机中弹坠毁。随后又发现3架日机，便抓住机会迅速占位瞄准攻击，又击落日机1架。与此同时，第21中队中队长李桂丹等人也发现2架日机，经连续攻击，击落、击伤各1架。在空战中，日机为躲避中国驱逐机的攻击，时而钻进云中，时而降至云层下。由于中国飞行员英勇顽强，紧追不舍，经约30分钟激烈战斗，击落日机3架、击伤1架，中国空军无一损伤。
此次空战是中国空军抗击日军空中袭击的第一次作战。首战获胜，给日军以沉重打击，极大地鼓舞了中国军民抗日斗志，增强了战胜侵略者的信心。为纪念首次空战胜利，国民政府将8月14日定为“空军节”。
