由Voest-Alpine Stahl LinZ GmbH开发的辊轮转矩检测装置安装在引锭杆中，板坯连铸时，在负荷状态下测量和记录每一辊轮的转矩。一般在板坯连铸情况下，在宽度方向由3部分辊道组成，为了测量内侧和外侧的所有辊轮，由于每一条辊道部分需要一台转矩传感器单元，就需要机械电气上完全分立的6台转矩传感器和数据记录单元。转矩传感器用弹簧板压靠在辊轮上。安装在转矩传感单元上的应变片用于辊轮转矩的测量。将应变片的长度变化变换为电压量记录，随后使用计算机程序再将记录的电压转换为辊轮转矩。当每次引锭杆插入和进行拉坯时，一旦转矩传感单元与辊轮接触时，自动开始转矩测量，电池供电的工业PC机记录数据，存储在便携式硬盘中。在完成测量后，利用评估程序对数据进行分析和绘图，转动不良的或有粘连的辊轮，转矩比转动正常的高，所以能够十分有效地识别转动不良的辊轮。操作人员利用这种装置可获得如下信息：(1)每一辊轮的绝对转矩值；(2)辊轮的状态(如转动性好、坏或辊轮粘连等)；(3)任一选定的辊轮的长期评估。这一点对于维修十分重要。可以计划维修时间，减少停工时间。利用装置获取的综合信息，可明显改进产品质量，增加产量，如避免由于辊轮转动不佳造成的磨痕、表面损伤等。
