| 普林斯顿大学 Princeton University 美国私立高等学校。校址在新泽西州普林斯顿市。1746年建立，原名新泽西学院 ，是美国历史悠久的大学之一。1896年改现名。最初的办学宗旨是教授青年希腊语、拉丁语，进行传统的人文教育和理科教育。后逐渐扩展系科，开办工程与应用科学、建筑学与城市设计、公共事务与国际事务、地区研究以及艺术等院系，培育和造就了大批知名学者和政治人才。J.麦迪逊和W.威尔逊两位美国总统都是普林斯顿大学的毕业生。有近千名毕业生先后担任过美国副总统、国会议员、最高法院法官、州长或其他高级官员。学校设有本科生院和研究生院。1969年开始招收女生。该校的威尔逊公共事务和国际事务学院一直保持其培养政府官员的传统。系科有历史系、哲学系、英文系、数学系和物理系。物理系有3名教授获诺贝尔奖。 |
