蛇纹石 serpentine 一族层状结构硅酸盐矿物。化学组成为Mg6[Si4O10](OH)8。常含铝、铁、镍、钴 。晶体结构层是由一层硅氧四面体层与一层水镁石八面体层结合而成的双层。结构层常发生卷曲,卷曲程度与化学成分有关,含杂质元素,则少受弯曲。结构层平坦者称利蛇纹石(为单斜晶系);卷曲成管状者称纤蛇纹石(斜方或单斜晶系);波状起伏如叶片者称叶蛇纹石(单斜晶系)。隐晶质的利蛇纹石或纤蛇纹石或二者的混合物称胶蛇纹石。集合体通常呈致密块状、细条片状、叶片状或纤维状;呈纤维状集合体的纤维蛇纹石称蛇纹石石棉或温石棉。蛇纹石一般呈绿色,但色调变化较大,常具有青绿相间的蛇皮状斑纹,故名。块状蛇纹石呈油脂光泽或蜡状光泽;纤维状蛇纹石呈丝绢光泽。莫氏硬度2.5~3.5。比重约2.5左右。除纤蛇纹石外,具完全的底面解理。蛇纹石主要是超基性岩或镁质碳酸岩中富镁矿物经热液交代变质而成。是制造钙、镁、磷肥的原料。色泽艳丽和润的致密块体可作工艺品及装饰石材的原料。呈苹果绿色的,叫岫岩玉。 |
