| 尾迹 wake 与流体作相对运动的物体后面的尾流。流体绕过物体时，会在物面上形成边界层。对于像建筑物或桥墩那样的非流线形体，流动会从物体后部表面分离，并伴有周期性的旋涡发放。这些旋涡顺流而下，在物体后面形成尾迹。尾迹的具体结构和特征取决于不同的流动。雷诺数Re＜60时，为层流尾迹；60＜Re＜5000时，尾迹以涡街（从物体两侧周期性地向后发放出旋转方向相反并规则排列的双列线涡）为特征；Re＞5000时，为湍流尾迹。高超声速尾迹是高超声速飞行物体后面的尾流。当流星体进入大气层或飞行器（人造卫星、远程导弹等）重返大气层时，由于头激波的强烈压缩，气流与物面间的强烈摩擦，以及物体后方剪切层收缩而引起的减速加热作用，在物体后面形成电离的炽热等离子体流，由高熵尾迹和粘性尾迹两部分组成(见图)。尾迹中等离子体的电磁特性对雷达波的传播有重大影响。有关高超声速尾迹的研究对天体物理学、航天飞行和军事科学都有重要意义。
