七十年代,关中一农民有冤,地方不能伸,携此饼一袋,步行赴京告状。正值暑天,行路人干粮皆坏,见其饼不馊不腐,以为奇。至京,坐街吃之,市民不识何物,农民便售饼雇人写状,终于冤案大白。农民感激涕零,送一饼为其明冤者存念。问:何饼?说:石子饼。其饼存之一年,完好无异样,遂京城哗然。

此饼制作:上等白面,搓调料、油、盐,饼胚为铜钱厚薄。洗净的小鹅卵石在锅里加热,饼胚置石上,上再盖一层石子,烘焙而成。其色如云,油酥咸香。

同州人尤擅长此道,家家都有专石子,长年使用,石子油黑铮亮。据传,一家有二十多年的油石子,到六十年代,遭灾,无面作饼,无油炒菜,每次熬萝卜,将石子先煮水中便有油花,以此煮过两年。
