    为满足各项水利工程兴利除害的目标,在河流或渠道的适宜地段修建的不同类型水工建筑物的综合体。水利枢纽常以其形成的水库或主体工程——坝、水电站的名称来命名,如密云水库、罗贡坝、新安江水电站等;也有直接称水利枢纽的,如葛洲坝水利枢纽。水利枢纽按其承担的任务可分为防洪枢纽、水电站枢纽、灌溉枢纽、取水枢纽等。一个枢纽同时承担多项任务的,称为综合利用水利枢纽。水利枢纽还可按其所在地的地貌形态分为平原地区水利枢纽和山区(包括丘陵区)水利枢纽。枢纽中一般包括:挡水、泄水、取水以及某些专门性水工建筑物。合理安排这些建筑物之间的相关位置,使之达到技术上先进和可能、经济上合理、施工期短、运行可靠、便于管理和维修,称为枢纽布置。枢纽布置需要通过论证比较,确定最佳方案。
