国际物流是指在两个或两个以上国家（或地区）之间所进行的物流。例如意大利有一家专门经营服装的公司，它有5000家专卖店，分布在60个国家，每年销售的服装约5000万件。其总部在意大利，所有的工作都是通过80家代理商进行。若某一专卖店发现某一款式的服装需要补货，立即通知所指定的某一代理商，该代理商立即将此信息通知意大利总部，总部再把这一信息反馈给配送中心，配送中心便根据专卖店的需求在一定的时间内进行打包、组配、送货。整个物流过程可在一周内完成。
