性质：又称潜像。在胶片曝光后，乳剂层中的卤化银起光化作用，产生了肉眼看不见的影像，在摄影学上称为潜影。潜影的化学反应如下：AgBr+hv→Ag++Br—Ag++e—→Ag潜影只有在经过随后的显影、定影等加工过程之后才能变成可见的影像。显影时，溴化银中的溴与显影剂反应，生成溴化物而进入显影液；而溴化银中的银离子被还原为黑色的银微粒，形成可见的影像。按照潜影形成理论，一般认为形成潜影的最小的银微粒为Ag4+。在光敏材料上形成的隐性图像也称潜像。
