| 预警机 early warning aircraft 用于搜索、监视空中或海上目标，并可指挥引导己方飞机遂行作战任务的飞机。又称空中预警指挥机。它具有良好的探测低空、超低空目标的性能、便于机动、生存力强等特点，战时可迅速飞往作战地区，遂行警戒和指挥引导任务；平时可沿边界或公海巡逻，侦察敌方动态，防备突然袭击。早期的预警机只有预警功能。 预警机通常由大型运输机改装而成。机身上装有带罩的雷达天线，机舱内装有预警雷达，以及敌我识别、情报处理、指挥控制、通信、领航和电子对抗等设备。预警机可在数百千米距离内发现、识别、跟踪数十至数百批目标，向地面或海上指挥系统提供情报，为地面防空武器系统指示目标，并引导己方飞机遂行作战任务。舰载预警机可随航空母舰进入远洋活动，扩大预警范围。
