      作发电机运行的异步电机。又称感应发电机。这种电机转子的转向和旋转磁场的转向相同,但转速则略高于旋转磁场的同步转速。
  
  异步发电机由于维护方便,稳定性好,常用作并网运行的小功率水轮发电机。当用原动机将异步电机的转子顺着磁场旋转方向拖动,并使其转速超过同步转速时,电机就进入发电机运行,并把原动机输入的机械能转变成电能送至电网。这时电机的励磁电流取自电网。
  
  异步发电机也可以并联电容,靠本身剩磁自行励磁,独立发电(见图),这时发电机的电压与频率由电容值、原动机转速和负载大小等因素决定。当负载改变,一般要相应地调节并联的电容值,以维持电压稳定。由于异步电机并联电容时,不需外加励磁电源就可独立发电,故在负荷比较稳定的场合,有可取之处。例如可用作农村简易电站的照明电源或作为备用电源等。
