第一次国内革命战争时期中国共产党中央委员会政治性机关刊物。1923年7月1日创刊。封面注明在广州出版,实际在上海秘密编印、发行。16开本。创刊号80页，第2、3期增至102页、106页。原定为月刊，未能按期出版。主要编撰人陈独秀、瞿秋白。以刊登论述中国及世界政治经济诸问题的长篇专论为主，另辟有发表短文的"寸铁"栏。曾运用调查研究材料和统计数据,剖析美、英、日等国对中国的侵略，分析中国社会现状，揭露军阀政府的专制，帮助读者理解中国共产党的民主革命纲领和统一战线策略。陈独秀执笔的《前锋露布》和专论《中国国民革命与社会各阶级》，表露了忽视无产阶级在民主革命中的领导权的错误观点。1924年2月出至第3期后停刊。
