高海公路海口特大桥坐落在滇池的出海口，全长756米，双向6车道，估算投资8000多万元,承担该项目的是云桥建设股份有限公司，该公司曾经承担过玉元公路化皮冲大桥、西双版纳州景洪大桥、大保公路澜沧江大桥、施甸打黑怒江大桥等。海口特大桥桥梁基础要在水下完成，建设难度较大，其施工技术特点为：采用直径700的螺旋焊管，主管与弦管之间采用相贯线焊接健连接；钢管每节吊装重量达60吨，在水域施工缆索及侧拉地锚布置非常困难；2.4米大直径水上钻孔灌注桩在我省首次施工；水下大体积承台施工传统方法多采用石筑岛围堰，为保证滇池水域不受污染，采用钢箱围堰，混凝土静水封底的办法实施,主桥采用了三跨中承式钢管混凝土系杆拱桥，这种设计的好处在于不影响桥下来往船只通行，又避免了深水打桩给滇池带来的污染，同时又节约了材料和投资。目前，特大桥的下部工程已经全部完成，到2006年将和高海高速公路同步完工。
