《国际专利分类斯特拉斯堡协定》于1971年4月24日在斯特拉斯堡签订。一个国家参加斯特拉斯堡协定就自动成为斯特拉斯堡联盟大会的成员国，但加入此联盟的国家必须是巴黎联盟成员国。 该协定的主要内容是实施国际专利统一分类法，规定了分类用语。分类法每五年要修订一次，连续使用。最近一次修订生效于198。年。国际专利统一分类系统的建立，大大地改变了各国各行其是的专利分类系统的混乱状态，并促进专利文献的管理、国际交流与合作目前，世界上已有许多国家采用国际专利分类法。
