The designs of the water-cooled crucible for metal meltin in arc skull furnace and its water-cooling system and the centrifugal casting mechanism are all generalized.

The article discusses about the solidification thickness calculated with mathematical models on the basis of thermal balance equations at second cooling area as well as the realization of computer programs.

Afterwards,the general laws between deformation of cross section of coagulating shell and stress and internal cracks in the continuous casting steel slab are analysed.

A two-dimensional thermo-mechanical coupled finite element model is established to analyze the solidification process of continuous casting slabs in mold and the stress and strain distributions in the solidified shells.

A 3D thermal conduction model is set up, and the shapes as well as temperature distributions of initial solidified shells in moulds for continuous casting of thin slabs are obtained with finite differential method, based on which the stress and strain distributions are given out using 3D thermal elasto plastic contact finite element method.
